The Assurance Senior Manager is responsible for developingsuggestions to improve client internal controls and accountingprocedures as well as advising the client on various economic andregulatory risks in a specific industry field of expertise byidentifying financial and non-financial performance measures,formulating and communicating the audit plan, answering complexquestions involving GAAP and GAAS and composing technicalconsultation memos on engagements related to

GAAP / GAAS

issues. Inthis role, the Assurance Senior Manager is charged with marketing,networking, and business development within an area of expertisewhile maintaining key client relationships and acting as theprimary contact for clients regarding complex questions andinformation. Additionally, the Assurance Senior Manager is acritical part of the offices / region’s Assurance leadership teamand will be involved in the direct supervision, problem resolutionand delegation stages of the overall audit.

Job Duties:
ControlEnvironment:

Applies advanced knowledge and understanding of thecollective effect of various factors on establishing or enhancingeffectiveness, or mitigating the risks, of specific policies andprocedures Applies an advanced understanding of objectives andcomponents of the overall control environment and organization, andsupervisory controls Validates and assesses effectiveness ofinternal control over financial reporting Identifies andcommunicates to management and audit committee suggestions toimprove client internal controls and accounting procedures Identifyand delegates functions of the audit to the auditor in charge asdeemed appropriate Supervise the work of audit team and reviewworkpapers and conclusions preferably onsite during audit fieldwork Provide on-the-job-training to the engagement staff duringaudit field work

GAAP:

Applies advanced knowledge and understandingof governing principles; applying these principles to clienttransactions; and documenting and communicating an understandingand application of these principles Identifies and consults withclients on the impact of new accounting pronouncements Presents anddiscusses alternative application of generally accepted accountingprinciples and arguments for/against such alternatives Draftscomplex financial statements and related footnote disclosures andeffectively communicates these to client Identifies complexaccounting issues and forms and documents resolution, seekingcounsel of BDO technical experts as needed

SEC and PCAOB:

Appliesadvanced knowledge and understanding of SEC regulations and PCAOBguidelines, and documents and communicates the application of theseprinciples Reviews SEC filings, including MD&A, financialstatements and disclosures for appropriateness in form, content,completeness, and accuracy, and ensures that quarterly reviews areproperly performed Reviews required communications to the clientand Audit Committee, ensuring their completeness, accuracy andcompliance with Firm and professional guidelines Reviews Section404 internal control audit work to ensure their completeness andcompliance with Firm and professional guidelines Ensures compliancewith engagement independence requirements and consults internallyas needed

GAAS:

Applies advanced knowledge and understanding ofprofessional standards; application of the principles contained inprofessional standards; and the ability to document and communicatean understanding and application of professional standards on anengagement Applies advanced knowledge of professionalstandards/practices, including GAAS and PCAOB in performing andsupervising work Provides guidance to others and affirmsconclusions made by others Communicates matters required to bereported to the Audit Committee/Board and those charged withgovernance Applies the use of efficiency tools such as statisticalsampling, CAATS, etc.

Methodology:

Applies advanced knowledge andapplication of BDO standards, policies and technology that guideeffective and efficient delivery of quality services and productsConducts detailed review to assure audit is completed in accordancewith assurance manual standards Prepares or reviews requiredcommunications to management and audit committees, ensuringtimeliness and completeness Recommends appropriate outcomes tocritical issues Initiates and prepares client acceptance/retentionprocedures where appropriate Plans the audit process and overseesthe execution of procedures with quality, efficiency, andcompleteness despite pressures of deadlines Executes proper BDOmethodology including but not limited to proper archivingprocedures Considers Sarbanes-Oxley rules in understanding andexecuting service plans for combined 404 and financial statementaudits for public clients

Research:

Applies methodology used toseek or maintain information from authoritative sources and to drawconclusions regarding a target issue based on that informationDefines methodology to conduct research projects and completes in atimely manner Applies advanced knowledge of all appropriateresearch tools and draws conclusions based upon appropriateresearch Prepares memo supporting research/conclusions and consultswith others if appropriate Presents issues to RTD or concurringreviewer effectively and accurately Other duties as required

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Sets the tone for teamwork bysupporting others in their work and delivering on commitments madeto the team members and clients Supervision of managers,associates, and senior associates on all projects Review workprepared by managers, associates and senior associates and providereview comments Act as a Career Advisor to associates and seniorassociates Schedule and manage workload of associates and seniorassociates Provide verbal and written performance feedback toassociates and senior associates Teach/coach managers, seniors, andassociates to provide on the job learning

Qualifications,Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education:

Bachelor’s degree,required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics,preferred Master’s degree in Accountancy, preferred

Experience:

Seven (7) or more years of prior relevant audit experience and/orpublic accounting, private industry accounting orconsulting/professional services experience, required Priorsignificant supervisory experience, required Industry expertise inone or more assurance specialty, preferred

License/Certifications:

Active licensed US CPA, recognized active International Equivalentor unique qualification as defined by BDO’s Assurance LicensingPolicy, required If active international equivalent or uniquequalifications, required to obtain an active US CPA license withinapproved timeframe as defined by firm licensing requirementguidelines

Software:

Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite,preferred Experience with assurance applications and researchtools, preferred
