We are looking for teammates who are: Curious to gain new insightsInnovativeAble to communicate effectivelyDetail orientedWhat you will do: You will encourage taxpayer compliance through education and the administration of tax revenue audits of Sales/Use Tax in South Carolina.
Primary job duties include:
Reviewing and conducting sales and use tax audits on basic retail businesses, non-retail purchasers, other service providers, end-users, and consumers.
Researching and providing audit documentation to include taxpayer friendly language and all points of issue within the audit.
Preparing and presenting audit findings clearly to the taxpayer, their representative, and any interested SCDOR personnel. Accurately prepare documents for possible appeals and criminal investigation referrals.
Providing taxpayer assistance to include answering taxpayer questions in the office or the field. Participating in training classes, educational seminars, or other speaking engagements.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Either:
A bachelor’s degree in a business-related field • with at least 18 hours of accounting, and experience in accounting, auditing, finance, insurance, or tax preparation and/or analysis. (Transcripts required) OR A bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in accounting, auditing, finance, or tax preparation.
Additional requirement:
A valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation are required for field work.
Academic degrees must be from an accredited institution of higher learning.

Training:
Sales Tax Auditors will participate in a training program to ensure they have the knowledge and skills to successfully perform their job.
Hours:
Flexible hours may be available from 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday (37.5 hours per week).
Telework schedule:
This position may be eligible to work remotely up to two days per week.
