Audit Director Health Facilities Commission – State of Tennessee Nashville, TN 37243
- Hybrid work The Tennessee Health Facilities Commission (HFC) is responsible for licensure, regulation, and investigation of health care facilities in the state of Tennessee.
It also administers the Certificate of Need program, the Nursing Home Civil Monetary Penalty Fund, the Nurse Aide Registry, the Abuse Registry, and is the State Survey Authority (SSA) for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). As the State Survey Agency, we are a HIPAA covered entity. HFC is seeking to fill the position of Director of Internal Audit . This position is based in Nashville, Tennessee and is responsible for conducting internal audits and related reviews, communicating results to HFC leadership, monitoring plans of correction, and other duties to be determined. This position reports directly to the Executive Director. Specific job duties for this position are as follows:
- Review internal operations and provide reasonable assurance of compliance with state and federal laws.
- Identification of key-risk areas.
- Understand federal regulations related to health surveys and monitor conformity therewith.
- Compose audit reports and provide staff support to Health Facilities Commission Board Audit Subcommittee.
- Monitor progress of plans of correction.
- Responsible for ensuring the internal audit program is in compliance with IIA standards.
- Coordinate with quality improvement staff.
- Effectively communicates with team members, supervisor, executive leadership, legislators, and external business partners; establishes and maintains a variety of important contacts with division heads, high level
- managerial personnel, governmental officials, and attorneys.
- Works closely with executive leadership to resolve and correct major problems uncovered in audits and related reviews.
- Directs the coordination of departmental audit activities with the Comptroller of the Treasury and other state and federal agency audit personnel.
Other TBD Qualifications:
Prior State auditing experience, certificate in healthcare compliance (CHC), or certificate in healthcare privacy compliance (CHPC) preferred. Qualified candidates should have a minimum of five years’ prior auditing experience AND a degree, including, but not limited to, one of the following:
- bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration.
- juris doctorate.
- a bachelor’s in Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration; OR
- a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Candidates with
CIA, CPA, CFE
credentials will also be preferred.
