Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
: This position will lead, develop and train a team of adjusters to investigate, measure, apply coverage, adjust and resolve all facets of homeowner, dwelling, condominium, renters and commercial property insurance claims in Stillwater’s 50 state US market. The position is principally in-office, but travel is necessary to occasionally inspect losses, attend settlement conferences, mediations, inspect losses and perform CAT duty during high volume periods.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: Research, investigate, determine and apply coverage on losses covered by a broad range of residential and commercial coverage forms and policies marketed in 50 separate states. verification and detailed analysis of applicable policy/endorsement contract language in comparison to claim facts. Promptly resolve all open coverage questions through the investigation process while protecting Stillwater’s rights and defenses under its forms. Perform sophisticated analysis of damage and coverage questions; write and compose position papers, resolution plans and correspondence timely. Ability to generate original composition non-waiver, reservation of rights letters, disclaimers, partial and complete, and other letters material to claim resolution. Think strategically to match the best claim adjusting resource to the claim handling opportunity. This may include the use of remote photo capture applications, remote claim measurement applications, independent adjusters, non-adjuster resources, etc. Utilize Xactimate estimating skills sufficient to write a roof or water loss estimate from a pre-generated sketch. Be able to audit and collaborate estimates written by others such as independent adjusters and contractors. Commit to develop your Xactimate and damage measurement skills over time.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
: Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS/BBA) from a four-year college or university, and related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5 or more years of experience and designation (preferred) Prior leadership (3-5 years) experience in a business field is required. Exceptional knowledge of property and casualty policies, insurance principles, loss reserving, and development skills. Sound business judgment and effective human relations, problem solving, and analytical skills. Working knowledge of Unfair Claim Practice Acts and Insurance Codes. Exceptional knowledge of damage estimating and repair techniques for property, personal property, and residential construction.
