Role:
The Assistant Branch Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the overall operations and success of the branch. This position is responsible for driving sales initiatives, enhancing member service, and ensuring compliance with banking regulations. The Assistant Branch Manager will work closely with the Branch Manager to develop strategies that promote growth in consumer lending and credit union services. Additionally, this role involves mentoring and training staff to foster a strong member service culture within the team. Ultimately, the Assistant Branch Manager contributes to the branch’s profitability and member satisfaction by effectively managing daily operations and promoting a positive work environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma is required. College courses in business, banking, or accounting preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience in banking or financial services, with a focus on sales and operations. Previous experience in a leadership role within a banking environment. Familiarity with credit union operations. Strong written and verbal communication skills required, bilingual conversationalist a plus. Detail oriented with an ability to multi-task while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and meeting multiple deadlines. Excellent computer skills in Microsoft (MS Office) environment and multiple job-related software programs. A high level of integrity, confidentiality, and a strong work ethic is required.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Branch Manager in overseeing daily operations and ensuring compliance with banking regulations. Drive sales initiatives by promoting branch products and services to meet member needs. Mentor and train branch staff to enhance their sales skills and customer service capabilities. Collaborate with the Branch Manager to develop and implement strategies for branch growth and profitability.
Skills:
The required skills in branch sales and banking operations are essential for driving the branch’s performance and achieving sales targets. Daily work will involve utilizing credit union knowledge to assist members in selecting appropriate products. Strong communication skills will be necessary for mentoring staff and fostering a collaborative team environment. A solid understanding of financial practices will help in managing member relationships and ensuring satisfaction. Preferred skills in sales culture will enhance the ability to motivate the team and create a dynamic atmosphere focused on achieving branch goals.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Professional office environment with moderate sound. Flexibility to work during Credit Union hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. certain non-Federal holidays, and Saturdays when required. Ability to move around the building as well as travel to other branches, off-site training, and/or meetings as needed. Ability to use office equipment such as computer, telephone, copier, stamp machine, etc. Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Vision corrected to within normal limits. Ability to listen, hear, and understand to assist members by phone.
