We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Assistant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have experience with all accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, financial and government reporting, and assisting in and streamline accounting processes. As an Accounting Assistant, you will play a role in maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, and supporting the finance department with various tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare, analyze, and maintain financial reports, statements, and records in compliance with company policies and accounting standards. Assist the accounting team with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings and reconciliations. Ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and other financial transactions. Review employee and company credit card expense reports for adherence to company policies and processing payments upon final approval. Support accounts payable/receivable functions, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and follow up on outstanding payments. Assist with bi-weekly payroll including checking employee timecards for accuracy and completion, downloading reports and preparing journal entries for uploading into the general ledger. Assist with the preparation of tax filings, audits, and other regulatory compliance requirements. Collaborate with internal teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making. Maintain and update financial databases, ensuring all data is accurate and up-to-date. Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency within the accounting function.

Qualifications:

Associate’s degree in Accounting or a related field. Proven experience (2+ years) in an accounting or finance role, with a strong understanding of financial principles and accounting software. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, Sage Intacct). Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively. Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) is a plus.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Experience with financial analysis and reporting.
