Construction Finance Associate

Non-Exempt/Part-Time

SALARY RANGE

$18-$22/hr., 20-25 hrs./week Primary Role Habitat for Humanity builds homes side-by-side with our community, tackling housing insecurity and providing families with opportunities for homeownership. The Construction Finance Associate works closely with the Finance and Construction teams to ensure the affiliate maintains its ability to carry out the mission, as defined in our strategic plan, and is a viable source of affordable mortgages in eastern Connecticut. This position is responsible for overseeing project income and expense and providing daily support to the Finance team.

QUALIFICATIONS

2-3+ years of accounting experience. Attention to detail, strong time management skills, and ability to work well on a team. Technically competent with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and internet-based CRM’s and/or financial management programs such as Sage 50. Prior construction and grant-related experience preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Finance Director, the Construction Finance Associate will be responsible for setting up and maintaining construction project accounting files, tracking projects for grant reporting, and providing general support in general accounting or administrative duties.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Review, route, track, and post vendor/subcontractor payments, including direct communication with vendors regarding billing, invoices, and 1099 details, entering transactions to Sage, cutting checks. 2) Produce accurate job cost reports for budget tracking and home pricing. 3) Weekly construction finance tracking to include funds spent/funds remaining per project. 4) Assist Construction Superintendent with cost tracking per project. 5) Work with Development team to track grant funds and assist with the reporting/reimbursement requirements in a timely manner. 6) Assist Finance Director and Finance Associate with tasks related to the annual audit. 7) Contribute to process & improvements documentation; develop and maintain reporting tools. 8) Provide ongoing and daily support to the Finance Team.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • General administrative office tasks.
  • May be required to attend occasional Habitat events after hours.
  • Understands the mission of Habitat for Humanity and represents Habitat’s image and standards positively in the community.
  • Works in sensitive program areas with tact and confidentiality.
  • Must pass criminal background and sex offender registry checks.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

… Requires the physical ability to sit, climb a ladder, walk, and/or stand for prolonged periods of time. While the offices are smoke-free and temperature controlled, much of the work may be in non-temperature-controlled conditions, including outdoors, year-round. The position requires people to be able to safely lift and carry at least 50 lbs. on an occasional basis and/or to stand up to 6 hours.
