Job Description


POSITION GOAL

To receive, accumulate, record and maintain a variety of financial data to provide current and accurate information to school administration, including that of funds generated within the school and funds budgeted by the school district.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Bookkeeper II (Elementary and Middle School) shall carry out the performance responsibilities listed below: Follow general instructions and operate within the limits of standard practices and procedures of the Federal, State and School Board rules, regulations, and policies. Receive, count, record, and deposit all monies collected from clubs, classes, departments and athletic activities; record financial activities regarding budgeted funds. Process purchase orders, review check requests for proper documentation, prepare checks to pay bills, post ledgers, reconcile monthly and yearly accounts, and maintain balanced accounts. Compile, type, file and maintain forms, summaries, reports and records as necessary to ensure accurate, up-to-date accountability.
Receive payment and make change for lost-book fines, yearbooks, pictures, field trips and other obligations.
Perform tasks related to the school’s store such as selling paper, pencils, books, etc., maintaining records, and ordering supplies.
Interact effectively with the general public, staff members, students, teachers, parents, and administrators, using tact and good judgment.
Operate standard office equipment such as any generation of typewriter, calculator, CRT terminal, microcomputer, word processor, duplicator, etc., as well as equipment developed or advanced from future technology as required by the job.
Participate, successfully, in required and elective training programs offered to increase the individual’s skill and proficiency related to the assignment.
Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibility.
Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned by the principal/administrator/supervisor or designee.
Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program.
Experience – Three (3) years of related work experience. School district work experience preferred.
Work experience should have provided an ability to perform diversified duties.
Ability to use judgment to determine the action to be taken.
Special Qualifications – A knowledge of business practices, bookkeeping theory, and routine typing skills.
Must be computer literate.
Bilingual skills preferred.
Computer skills as required for the position.
The hiring administrator may specify preferred, appropriate additional qualifications as may be related to the job.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.
