Full Job Description Job Description:

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for supporting the Accounting Department in the execution of routine and moderately complex accounting functions. This role involves participating in the full accounting cycle, maintaining general ledger entries, supporting monthly closings, and ensuring accurate processing of vendor payments and employee expense reports. The Accounting Specialist plays a key role in supporting financial reporting activities, identifying discrepancies, and maintaining compliance with internal policies and procedures. The position is intended for individuals with 3-5 years of relevant experience who are seeking growth and development opportunities within a logistics organization.

Responsibilities:

Assist in the full accounting cycle, including basic month-end and quarter-end close procedures. Enter and maintain general ledger transactions to support accurate financial reporting. Ensure accurate allocation of general and administrative expenses and support the timely processing of vendor payments. Review accounting transactions to identify and resolve discrepancies. Collaborate with team members to assist in preparing internal financial reports. Review expense reports and ensure policy compliance. Prepare monthly expense summaries for internal review and approval. Provide day-to-day support to the controller and finance team on general accounting tasks. Other related tasks as needed.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to manage and analyze financial data, prepare reports, and automate calculations. Experience with accounting software; Cargo Wise Accounting is a plus. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team. Professionalism in interacting with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated reliability, trustworthiness, and ability to maintain confidentiality. Capacity to anticipate work needs and maintain accurate financial records.

Education and Experience:

A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required. 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably within logistics or a similar industry.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
