Summary of Mandatory Qualifications:

Three (3)+ years of full charge bookkeeping experience Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred) Proficiency with QuickBooks Online Strong MS Excel skills including advanced functions Proficiency with Google Suite (Gmail, Google Calendar, etc) Reliable transportation to commute to our Tallahassee office ~~~ About us: Goodwood Museum & Gardens is a 21-acre historic property in Tallahassee, FL. We are looking for a part-time bookkeeper to join our team.

About this position:

The Non-Profit Bookkeeper will bring a detail-oriented approach, ensuring accurate and timely attention to Goodwood’s accounts, taxes, payroll, budgets, and financial planning. In coordination with Grants Writer, Executive Director, Tax Preparer, and Finance Committee, this individual will make a significant impact on the future of Goodwood Museum & Gardens. Specifically, we are looking for someone who: Is familiar with bookkeeping for non-profits and is passionate about mission-driven work Doesn’t mind working independently, but is also willing to assist other team members as needs arise Is a natural problem-solver; someone who takes initiative when they notice an issue Has high attention to detail and understands the critical nature of accuracy in accounting Loves Tallahassee and it’s rich history If this sounds like you, please read on! ~~~ Essential Job Responsibilities In this position, you will: Handle accounts payable and receivables; utilizing paper and electronic methods Reconcile bank statements, investment accounts, and credit card transactions each month Calculate and remit sales tax to State of Florida monthly Prepare monthly financial statements and special reports as requested Prepare, post and make weekly bank deposits at local branches Manage cash flow in collaboration with Executive Director Process employees’ timesheets and manage payroll Prepare state and federal payroll tax returns; ensuring timely filing Remit semi-weekly and quarterly payroll taxes Collaborate with Executive Director to provide and input operating and program-specific financial data for various grant applications, including the State of Florida and the Council On Culture and Arts (COCA) Create tracking spreadsheet to align with grant budgets and grant expense allocations in coordination with the Executive Director; using Classes in QuickBooks for periodic reporting Ensure compliance with GAAP and non-profit financial regulations Assist with annual budget preparation and financial planning Work with Tax Preparer and Finance Committee to complete annual 990 returns Prepare change ‘banks’ of cash needed for various events; count and deposit money post-event Perform various administrative tasks such as assistance with license renewals, credit card updates, check ordering, etc Collaborate with Executive Director to provide expense details for periodic grant reporting Assist as time permits with events and planning committees Understand PayPal credit card processing hardware Maintain subsidiary ledger of Rental Deposits; reconciled to General Ledger ~~~ Requirements The right candidate will possess: Minimum three (3) years experience as a Full Charge Bookkeeper; NACPB Certification can substitute for one year Associate Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (4-year degree or equivalent a plus) Strong understanding of accounting principles and non-profit financial practices Proficiency with QuickBooks Online Demonstrated experience in using Microsoft Excel to create functional spreadsheets Proficiency with Google Suite (Gmail, Google Calendar, etc) Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work independently managing multiple tasks Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to commute to our Tallahassee-based office ~~~ Benefits Non-Profit work is a labor of love, but we know compensation is also important.
