This position plays a critical role in the financial operations of our construction company by ensuring accurate billing, timely collection of payments, and maintaining precise financial records. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in construction accounting , a strong grasp of accounts receivable processes , and a commitment to providing excellent client service. Key Responsibilities Process and record incoming payments accurately and in a timely manner. Generate and send invoices to clients in accordance with contract terms and construction billing standards. Maintain detailed accounts receivable records , ensuring all transactions are properly documented. Monitor client accounts for discrepancies and follow up on overdue payments professionally and persistently. Reconcile customer accounts and address any billing issues or payment disputes promptly. Collaborate with the finance and project management teams to ensure accurate financial reporting . Assist with Notice of Commencement (NOC), lien filings, lien releases , and related documentation. Deliver exceptional customer service by handling client account inquiries with professionalism. Support audits, reporting requirements, and month-end close as needed. Requirements Proficient in accounting principles , especially double-entry bookkeeping and the flow of debits and credits . Prior accounts receivable experience in the construction industry is required . Familiarity with construction billing practices , including AIA forms and lien laws. Notary certification (or willingness to obtain). Must be able to pass a drug screening . Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Proficient with accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with construction accounting platforms (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, QuickBooks Contractor Edition, Procore) is a plus. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with corporate accounting in a construction environment .
