Under the supervision of the Director of Finance, this position is responsible for accurately processing financial transactions, maintaining detailed records, assisting with account reconciliations, and supporting internal reporting processes. The Accounting Clerk is expected to uphold the highest standards of financial integrity and Christian stewardship in alignment with the university’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:

Process and record accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain detailed and organized financial files and documentation for audits and internal use. Assist in the preparation and reconciliation of monthly financial reports and bank statements. Post journal entries and support general ledger accuracy under the guidance of the Director of Finance. Track departmental spending against budget allocations and assist with financial forecasting. Work closely with students and departments regarding billing, payments, and account inquiries. Assist in payroll processing and data entry when needed. Support inventory and fixed asset tracking and record maintenance. Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with university policies and financial regulations. Assist with year-end closing, audits, and special financial projects.

Qualifications:

Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of two years of relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or university-specific systems). Strong Microsoft Excel and Office Suite skills. Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and integrity. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in handling financial inquiries. Work Environment:

Office-based within the Bursar’s Office. Standard business hours with occasional extended hours during audits or financial closings. Regular interactions with students, faculty, staff, and vendors.
