Job Description
Accounting Technician II Tarpon Springs, City of (FL) Tarpon Springs, FL 34689 JOB This position requires certain technical abilities in performing the required functions of the position. This position is responsible for technical assignments; the scope of work is significant and has considerable impact within the department and the City. Under minimal supervision, the employee works independently reviewing, monitoring and processing accounting functions including accounts payable, sales tax processing, legal bill transactions, fuel card transactions, City utility bill transactions, document retention maintenance, off-site cash receipt transaction downloads, assist with payroll and be payroll back-up, input and maintain journal entries and budget transfers.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Accounts Payable:
Reviews purchase orders, voucher requests, field purchase orders, invoices and payment authorizations for accuracy, insures timely and proper payments, resolves questions with appropriate individual departments on incorrect payments, processes for payment all invoices, vouchers, field purchase orders, contracts and utility bills.
Processes all Field Purchase Order transactionsReviews and processes city employees’ monthly purchasing card transactions. Processes requisitions for payment of contract services, receives and resolves vendor and City employee inquiries regarding accounts payable.
Maintains spreadsheet for allocation and payment of city utilities.
Prepares journal entries.
Sales Tax:
Calculates sales tax collected from city functions, creates vouchers for each sales tax account, completes sales tax electronic filing.
Prepares alcohol surcharge forms for remittance and electronic transfers; prepares journal entries.
Prepares cash receipt corrections.
Maintain spreadsheet for sales tax.
City Utility:
Processes utility refunds and prints checks.
Payroll:
Assists with weekly, monthly and year-end payroll, and serve as back-up for the payroll coordinator.
Additional Job Functions:
Answer phones.
Handle distribution of mail.
Input journal entries.
Input budget transfer entries.
Maintain filing.
Maintain document retention.
Maintain and process legal bills and maintain spreadsheet.
Maintain and process fuel card transactions and maintain spreadsheet.
Download and process Golf Course and Recreation daily transactions.
Maintain office supplies.
Process and maintain all City utilities.
Create and maintain financial spreadsheets as requested.
Have working knowledge of computer programs.
Customer Service:
Interacts and communicates with various individuals and groups both internal and external in a courteous and professional manner.
Performs all other duties as required
