Position Summary:

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Specialist to support their financial operations. This position is responsible for performing a variety of accounting and budgeting duties, including financial reporting, accounts payable, and procurement tracking. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and experience working in a government or public sector environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and maintain an efficient accounting system, including payroll, accounts payable, budget preparation, and financial analysis. Assist with all phases of the budgeting process, including projections, transfers, and monitoring. Compile and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual financial activity reports. Perform analysis and evaluation of budget expenditures to ensure alignment with financial goals. Track and process consultant payments and coordinate necessary adjusting entries with County Finance. Monitor budget versus actual performance and summarize accounting data for reporting. Perform purchasing and accounts payable functions, including creating purchase requisitions and processing invoices. Conduct pre-audits and post-audits by reviewing financial records, invoices, and account details. Review, input, and track procurements, purchase orders, change orders, and contract requests. Maintain and audit daily revenue processes and ensure compliance with financial policies.

Qualifications:

Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in the public sector. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently. Familiarity with government accounting practices and GAAP is a plus. IND3
