Job Description

Accounting Specialist – Solid Waste 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars DeLand, FL 32720 JOB The County of Volusia is seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist for the Solid Waste Division to perform advanced and responsible work in processing/maintaining accounting records and budget entry. This position is located at the Tomoka Landfill in Port Orange, FL.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position.) Process all Solid Waste accounts payables.

Create Standard Requisition (RQS).Initiate Task Assignment requests.

Initiate Interoffice Electronic Transfers (IET).Complete Revenue Transmittal Forms for accounts receivable.

Track division miscellaneous revenue (i.e. franchise fees, rent, metal surplus, host fees).Initiate hauler invoices.

Reconcile credit card purchases.

Create and maintain revenue and expense spreadsheets for budgetary purposes.

Assist with preparation of budget estimates.

Make travel arrangements.

Enter budget into CGI Performance Budgeting.

Run budget reports in infoAdvantage Reports for analysis.

Coordinate year end payables and receivables for the division.

Research solid waste management compliance officer training classes.

Order office supplies.

May be assigned to other county locations based upon operational needs.

Attends work on a regular and consistent basis.

Must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances.

Responds to emergency situations.

Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Knowledge of the laws, rules, and regulations relative to financial records within the unit of assignment.

Knowledge of financial accounting software systems. Ability to perform daily work involving written or numerical data and to make arithmetic calculations rapidly and accurately.

Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing to groups and individuals.

Ability to respond to emergency situations.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to audit accounting functions.

Ability to interact effectively with others.

Ability to work under stressful conditions.

Ability to interact effectively with others.

Must be able to relocate to other county locations based upon operational needs.

Physical Demands:

Sedentary work. Ability to see, talk; finger dexterity for data entry. Visual acuity (peripheral vision, depth perception) necessary to read, write, and use the computer. Ability to look at a computer screen for long periods. Ability to bend, stoop, and reach. Ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry a minimum of 10 pounds.

Mental Demands:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, procedures, memos, financial reports, formatted financial statements, and letters. Ability to do general mathematical calculations including basic accounting and bookkeeping. Ability to write and speak clearly and concisely to relay information, data, and details to others.
