Position Overview:

We are a small accounting team, and we pride ourselves in getting timely and accurate financials to management without having to work late hours and never on the weekends. Our ideal candidate should have a sense of urgency, pay attention to details, learn from mistakes, enjoy partnering with individuals across the company, and not mind the routine nature that comes with the accounting work. This is a full-time position that supports the Hotard Shuttle operations, which must be done in person 5 days a week in the office at 1424 Ryan St | Lake Charles, LA 70601

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

Obtains information from internal and external sources to accurately track and account for all transactions associated with the associated Hotard Shuttle contract billings. Builds & maintains a tracker to identify hotel accommodations, per diem, fuel, and other related expenses to speed up monthly billings. Processes the monthly billings for applicable contracts within 5 business days after month-end. Processes vendor invoices within accounting software ensuring accurate general ledger coding and proper management approval. Reconcile invoices entered in accounting software against vendor statements and reach out to vendors to resolve discrepancies. Supports management in providing timely and accurate details of which supplier invoices to accrue for during month-end close. Fills out credit applications for new vendors and obtains management approvals. Supports management in preparing schedules and roll forwards for monthly close activities and year-end financial statement audit. Assists with annual 1099 preparation and vendor maintenance for Hotard. Other special projects as assigned by the General Manager & Assistant Controller.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field 3 years of general accounting experience, preferred. Working experience with Great Plains or Workday general ledger and accounts payable ledger, preferred. Basic understanding of accounting principles is important. Highly motivated and team-oriented individual. Detail-oriented and strong analytical skills. Proficient in use of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products. Excellent organizational skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands:

Requires sitting throughout most of the day, interspersed with short trips throughout the office, dispatch, and maintenance shop as needed.
