Accounting Clerk 3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars Harahan, LA 70123 We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk for our client in Harahan, Louisiana. This is a long-term contract position within the construction/contractor industry, offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and collaborative environment. In this role, you will handle a variety of accounting tasks, including invoice processing, accounts reconciliation, and supporting both accounts payable and receivable functions.

Responsibilities:

Process vendor invoices and manage disbursement filing to support accounts payable operations. Handle daily invoicing, credit application, and cash receipt processing for accounts receivable, while assisting with collections of overdue balances. Perform general ledger account reconciliations and assist with month-end closing activities. Review and correct transaction documents, initiating revisions or additional actions as needed. Assign proper expenditure and accounting codes to financial documents, ensuring accurate classification. Compile statements and reports using information from multiple sources. Post financial data manually or electronically to journals, registers, and ledgers. Investigate and resolve discrepancies by reconstructing transactions and preparing necessary correction documents. Monitor budgets and verify adjustments or transfers to support budgetary control. Participate in special projects and perform other related duties as assigned. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred. Proficiency in data entry with exceptional attention to detail. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential. Familiarity with accounts reconciliation, invoicing, and billing processes. Previous experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable functions is advantageous. Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and accurately. Entry-level candidates will be considered, with a willingness to learn and adapt. Effective organizational and problem-solving skills to handle discrepancies and ensure accuracy.
