The ideal candidate would have at least 1 year of prior medical and/or urgent care/primary care billing/AR experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Receiving and verifying payment information which includes reviewing EOBs and ERAs to confirm the payment amount, date, and any applicable adjustments. Preparing and submitting clean claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper and executing claim follow-up with insurance carriers until paid or resolved.
  • Secure necessary medical documentation required or requested by insurance carriers, patients, and/or legal representation.
  • Answering phone inquiries from patients, client staff, and insurance companies.
  • Identify and resolve patient billing complaints
  • Provide an excellent standard of quality customer service as well as address patient conflicts for immediate resolution.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and sending patient statements
  • Evaluating patient’s financial status and establishing budget payment plans; following and reporting status of delinquent accounts
  • Performing various collection actions including contacting patients by phone; correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers
  • Posting payments from insurance companies
  • Participating in staff meetings
  • Maintain up-to-date expertise and knowledge of healthcare billing laws, rules, and regulations both federal and state
  • Maintaining the strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • 1 year of medical billing/AR experience, preferably in the urgent care/primary care setting
  • Certification in billing and coding is a plus
  • Proficient in medical billing/collection practice
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a departmental team
  • Excellent organization and multitasking skills are a must
  • The ability to resolve conflicts and possesses problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, and employees. and the public
  • Ability to operate a computer, computer software, and basic office equipment ICD-10: 1 year (preferred)
