The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our financial services operations by ensuring accurate account management and data integrity. This position requires a strong understanding of financial principles, excellent data entry skills, and the ability to analyze accounts effectively. The Application Specialist will work closely with various departments to facilitate account reconciliation and ensure compliance with GAAP standards. Duties Accurately apply daily customer payments received via lockbox, ACH, wire, and other electronic methods to customer accounts. Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, short-pays, and unapplied cash in a timely manner. Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Credit, Billing, Sales) to ensure proper cash allocation and resolve customer account issues. Communicate with customers regarding remittance information and payment details when necessary. Monitor and manage unapplied cash and credit balances, ensuring resolution within departmental guidelines. Reconcile customer accounts as needed and assist with month-end closing activities. Maintain documentation for audit purposes and assist with internal or external audits. Requirements Proven experience in account reconciliation and account analysis within the financial services sector. Strong understanding of GAAP principles and their application in accounting practices. Proficiency in data entry with a focus on accuracy and efficiency. Excellent negotiation skills to effectively resolve account discrepancies. Familiarity with medical terminology is a plus, especially for roles involving healthcare-related accounts. Experience in public accounting or similar environments is preferred. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with team members across departments.
