Position Overview:
Norfolk Construction is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper / Project Administrator to support our growing team. This dual-role position blends construction accounting with project coordination. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of bookkeeping practices, coupled with the ability to assist in managing project documentation and administrative workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping & Financial Oversight Manage day-to-day bookkeeping using QuickBooks Online Process accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll coordination Track job costs and allocate expenses to projects accurately Support month-end close and liaise with external CPA as needed Project Administration Assist in preparing subcontracts, change orders, and purchase orders Track subcontractor compliance (certificates of insurance, lien waivers) Manage vendor onboarding and maintain up-to-date project records Support PMs with material tracking, permitting, and closeout documents
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in bookkeeping, preferably in construction or a project-based business Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Procore) is a plus Excellent organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
