out of 5 stars Burlington, NC 27217 JOB The primary purpose of this position is to work interchangeably with other Accounting Technician II positions, to request and analyze reimbursement of appropriate expenses from various sources (NC Health Choice Payments, Food Stamp over payments, etc…). This position will assist Accounting Technician I positions as needed to process all invoices related to other program areas and operating expenses. Accounting funding includes accounts payables by ensuring payment of all invoices in a timely manner and various customer service functions (client and department/agency based).Watch this quick video on why working with us is pretty awesome!

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

What You’ll Be Doing (a.k.a. Your Mission): Get ready to power up your accounting skills! As an Accounting Technician II, you’ll be part of the superhero team in our Fiscal Unit, making sure every invoice is paid on time, every penny is tracked, and our vital programs (like Medicaid, Food & Nutrition, and Energy Assistance) run like clockwork.

Areas where you’ll make an impact daily: Wrangling the monthly 1571 report—our key to getting state reimbursements. You’ll gather the data, balance the numbers, upload to NC Corels, and submit it to the state. Think of it as our monthly financial power move!

Managing accounts payable—you’ll code, track, approve, and make sure vendors and services are paid correctly.

Keeping tabs on program budgets, contracts, and energy payments so we never overspend and always stay audit-ready.

Teaming up on shared duties like managing petty cash, gift cards, EBT cards, and handling overpayments and deposits.

Tracking programs like Special

LINKS, ADP

spending, and Energy Programs, making sure we’re maximizing funds and staying on point!

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Education & Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent with prior experience in bookkeeping or accounting and three years experience in bookkeeping or accounting clerical work in an accounting office; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (Completion of a one or two year business course in an accredited community college or business school including or supplemented by basic courses in bookkeeping or accounting may be substituted for two and three years of the required experience respectively.)

Computer Skills:

Prior experience with Microsoft Office products required. Proficient in typing accurately and within a fast-paced environment. Prior experience working with Tyler Munis software, preferred.

License/Credentials:

Possession of a valid NC driver’s license.

The Physical Side (It’s Not All Paperwork!): You won’t be climbing mountains—but you’ll stay moving: Walks to the printer, front desk, or across departments keep things active.

Occasionally lifting boxes or supplies (no superhero cape required).Mostly a chill office vibe with normal business hours (Mon-Fri, 8-5), but you might be called on during an emergency response. When our community needs us, we suit up!
