Non-Exempt Job Posting Pisgah Legal Services (PLS) is amunity-based non-profit legal aid agency governed by a local Board of Directors. Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina (WNC), Pisgah Legal Services provides free civil legal assistance to low-ie people in WNC. Theanization currently has offices in Asheville, Brevard, Burnsville, Cashiers, Hendersonville, Highlands, Marshall, anton, Newland, and Rutherfordton. With over 120 dedicated staff, including more than 30 attorneys plus program staff, and an active group of 200 volunteer attorneys, the program provides free services to over 20,000 people per year to meet their basic needs, primarily in the poverty law areas of housing, public benefits, domestic violence prevention, health care, immigration, and consumer law. PLS seeks a full-time HR & Finance Assistant to support both the Finance and Human Resources (HR) teams. This position plays a vital role in maintaining smooth internal operations by assisting with financial processing and HR-related tasks that support staff andanizational goals. Travel within the PLS service area and to meetings or conferences in other parts of NC.
Adhere to team priorities and policies, procedures, and standards of practice, as well as the highest professional and ethical standards.
Work with volunteers and PLS Development Team.
Finance Support:
Process credit card statements and ensure accurate reconciliation.
Assist with redacting insurance documents in preparation for grant reporting.
Provide general support for accounts payable (A/P) and other routine finance functions as needed.
Assist with grant billing and documentation as needed.
HR Support:
Assist with coordination of staff engagement efforts, including Sunshine Squad activities and internal events.
Manage HR calendars and schedule training and meetings.
Post job announcements and assist with general recruitment logistics.
Conduct general audits of employee leave and assist with leave accrual tracking.
Monitor the HR inbox and respond to or route inquiries as appropriate.
Track and implement employee changes across platforms, including ADP, Ella Card, and Text-em-All.
Support timelypletion of onboarding milestones (2-week, 8-week, and 90-day check-ins).
Maintain and update the ADP homepage with announcements or resources.
Organize and maintain employee personnel files in accordance with PLS policies.
Provide backup support to the HR team with drafting agendas, coordinatingmunications, and supporting recruitments as needed. Qualifications Commitment to PLS’ mission, values, and vision.
Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience in administrative, HR, or finance support.
Excellentanizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Demonstrated ability to work with sensitivity across socio-economic and cultural lines.
Strongmunication skills—written, verbal, and interpersonal.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with databases and HRIS platforms preferred.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for occasional travel to meetings or offices. Salary/ Benefits Salary ranges from $48,124 – $84,523 depending on experience. Additional bilingual language skills that are applicable to this role may qualify for up to an additional $3k uponpleting a language assessment test. Our salary scale is predetermined based on the years of relative professional work experience that qualify for this position to ensure equity in pay.
