Accounting Specialist Confidential Goldston, NC 27252 Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of technical accounting principles and tax compliance, with the ability to file tax returns and help with day-to-day core accounting functions.

Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance & Reporting Prepare and file accurate multi-state sales tax, excise tax, and motor fuels tax returns Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations Submit documentation to appropriate regulatory agencies by required deadlines Maintain comprehensive tax records, filings, and payment documentation Assist with IFTA filings and obtain necessary transportation records Support state registration and sales tax setup when entering new markets Accounting Operations Generate and process customer invoices for fuel deliveries, fuel polishing, and project work Enter vendor bills and assist with accounts payable (occasional) Perform data entry for accounts receivable and general ledger transactions with 100% accuracy Support the Accounting Manager with reconciliations, entry validation, and reporting tasks Participate in internal and external audits by maintaining strong documentation and controls Administrative Support Answer and route incoming phone calls in a professional manner Track vehicle credentials and ensure none operate with expired registrations Assist with fuel order entry and customer service, both in person and by phone Comply with company policies, safety protocols, and operational procedures Perform other duties as needed to support the department

What You’ll Bring/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field (preferred) Minimum 2 years of experience in an accounting or tax-focused role Strong understanding of accounting principles and multi-state tax regulations Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a dynamic work environment Why Join Us?
