Are you a highly organized and detail-oriented bookkeeping professional with a knack for numbers? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess a strong understanding of the financial intricacies of the construction industry? An established company in Kinston, NC is looking for an experienced Bookkeeper in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will bring at least 5 years of proven bookkeeping experience, with a strong preference for those with a background in construction. You will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing project costs, and ensuring the smooth financial operation of our projects. Proficiency in QuickBooks (at an advanced level) is essential, along with a solid understanding of general accounting, bookkeeping, and auditing principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain meticulous and accurate general ledger and job cost accounting records.
Perform regular reconciliation of bank and credit card statements to ensure accuracy.
Proactively track and manage Certificates of Insurance (COIs) for subcontractors and vendors, ensuring compliance.
Manage the full cycle of accounts receivable and payable, including the processing of lien waivers and diligent payment tracking.
Prepare insightful monthly financial reports to provide a clear overview of the company’s financial performance.
Collaborate effectively with our CPA, providing timely and accurate information to facilitate accurate tax filings.
Simultaneously manage and track the financial aspects of multiple construction projects, providing clear financial visibility for each.
Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of dedicated bookkeeping or accounting experience within the construction industry (highly preferred) or a related field.
Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks, with a strong understanding of its construction-specific features and functionalities.
Demonstrated experience with payroll processing, managing Certificates of Insurance (COIs), and participating in financial audits.
Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact professionally with team members, vendors, and clients.
