Accounts Payable 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars 187 West Independence Boulevard, Mount Airy, NC 27030 Processes accounts payable in a timely manner, including invoice matching and purchasing verification, imputing data, printing checks, sending information to general ledger, and maintaining accurate and appropriate supporting records and documents. Maintains an automated general accounting system for the housing authority; maintains financial records for each fund, project, and grant; inputs data to separate accounts for proper maintenance of the budget. Assists Finance Officer with budget preparation; prepares and maintains budget records; administering budget; participates in purchasing decisions. Maintains balances for each account; maintenance of all records concerning the expenditures of the housing authority, if any; transfers funds as necessary for proper cash flow; prepares monthly balances from daily summaries. Inputs general ledger data from journal vouchers, accounts payable, and fixed assets; general reports and verifies for accuracy; tags new assets and maintains fixed assets inventory; generates asset report for HUD. Maintain a Grade A for our PHAS report for accounts payable. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Considerable knowledge of invoice processing and accounts payable processes and procedures. Considerable knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including governmental fund accounting. Considerable knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local government rules and regulations governing financial operations and budgeting procedures of housing authorities. Skill in the accurate and speedy operation of an automated system and other office machines. Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare detailed and moderately complex records and reports. Ability to make mathematical computations accurately and with reasonable speed. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees of the authority and HUD officials. Ability to process invoices in an accurate and timely manner. Ability to follow complex written and oral instructions. Ability to set priorities and initial work activities. Ability to analyze financial data to locate problems and correct errors. Ability to analyze and prepare financial reports. Ability to be bonded as required under
G. S. 159-29.
Possession of valid North Carolina driver’s license and a good driving record. Physical Requirements Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational skills of stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects. Must possess the visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, do accounting work, operate a computer terminal, and do extensive reading. Desirable Education and Experience Considerable experience and knowledge of accounting and business management. College degree in accounting or finance and knowledge of government based accounting a plus.
