All previous applicants MUST reapply to be considered. •This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office (3 days) and remote (2 days) workdays each week after a successful training period. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management. The Meat and Poultry Inspection Division (MPID) enforces state and federal laws designed to ensure meat and poultry products sold to consumers are wholesome, unadulterated, and properly labeled. The Division inspects approximately 200 plants statewide for red meat slaughter/processing and poultry processing and operates a program “at least equal to” the USDA, Food Safety Inspection Service. MPID’s Administrative Services Unit serves as support staff for a division of 116 employees. This position provides administrative support to 4 Compliance officers and 1 Compliance supervisor.
Primary duties include:
Maintaining compliance case files and their supporting legal documentation Processing and tracking Notices of Warning and Civil Penalty assessments Supporting data entry into a web-based tracking system and preparing reports Maintaining a working inventory of all supplies and equipment needed by MPID personnel Using E-procurement and purchasing card to order supplies and equipment for the Division Coordinating the surplus of Division property when needed This position will also be cross trained to serve as an HR representative who can process personnel paperwork, enter actions in the Integrated HR-Payroll System, and audit timesheets; to answer the Division’s main phone line and direct calls appropriately; and to process travel reimbursements and vehicle mileage logs. Usual work hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday with occasional overtime to perform assigned duties. The N.C. Ability to work independently and prioritize daily tasks while meeting required deadlines Ability to generate official correspondence and maintain electronic and printed files Ability to convey information and ideas clearly and accurately through a variety of media to individuals or groups Ability to maintain effective working relationships with MPID personnel, the regulated community, and the general public Ability to audit time sheets and complete time leveling Must be able to lift 40 pounds
PREFERENCES

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
