- Hybrid work Raleigh Moravian Church (RMC) in Raleigh, North Carolina is seeking a part-time teammate to serve as the Bookkeeper & Administrative Lead.
Reporting to the Senior Pastor, Rev. Fran Saylor, this new role supports the overall function and activities of the church. This role combines administrative and bookkeeping responsibilities to ensure smooth church operations, communications, and accurate financial management. RMC is grounded in a Protestant tradition with a heritage stretching back more than 500 years. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Reconcile all financial transactions, including income, payments, and reports to third party records
- such as bank statements. Ensure accuracy in general ledger, conducting monthly and quarterly balance audits. Prepare financial statements
- like balance and income sheets, and budget preparation. Manage accounts receivable and payable
- managing income and supplier payments. Manage the credit card, receipts, fund codes, and bills as needed. Manage the payroll process
- including processing and record keeping.
Adhere to all legal requirements as stated by local and federal agencies. Work in concert with the Treasurer, Accountant, Finance Committee, and Offering Counters to maintain financial records, reports, and financial health for the church. Manage the process for donations, tithe collection, counting, and record keeping of revenue, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Receive and record donations in the financial system and prepare bank deposits. Adhere to charitable receipting standards, issuing receipts to donors in a timely manner. Greet and assist visitors and members during office hours. Staff the phones during office hours, communicate messages, and monitor voicemails. Maintain the master calendar of events both on the website and in print. Update membership records using church software. Maintain orderly and complete office files. Process all incoming and outgoing mail. Compose, proof, edit, and publish the weekly worship bulletin, electronic newsletter, and prayer concerns email. Prepare other necessary communications and documents as directed by the Pastor. Ensure proper operation of office equipment. Organize and secure key boxes and supply keys to personnel as needed. Maintain inventory of office and cleaning supplies. Update and maintain the online church volunteer sign-up page. Ensure facilities are running smoothly (e.g. doors locked, lights work, and report issues). Schedule building inspections and maintain inspection files. Perform other administrative duties as directed by the Senior Pastor.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Bookkeeping experience, with proficiency in using bookkeeping software preferred. Excellent clerical, organizational, communication, and writing skills. Ability to be a team player and work with staff and church constituencies. Service-driven attitude and ability to maintain confidentiality. Willingness to learn new skills. Proficiency with current technologies (e.g. Microsoft, Realm, Signup Genius). Self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
Benefits Package:
Annual Salary of $26,000, 10 vacation and 10 sick days annually. This position is a salaried part-time position (avg. 20 hrs wkly) and requires the candidate to be in-person at the RMC office. Some flexibility is available to accommodate a work schedule that fits both the church and candidates needs
