IRA/Trust Accounting Specialist 3.3 3.3 out of 5 stars 3590 Us Highway 9, Old Bridge, NJ 08857 Position Summary The IRA/Trust Accounting Specialist assists the Trust Department by performing a variety of financial and administrative functions as they pertain to IRAs and other trust accounting investments. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining confidential client information in a highly regulated environment and assisting in the department’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations and regulatory requirements. Essential Functions Monitor and maintain IRA balances and CD investments in the Trust accounting system. Initiate and complete wire transfers as needed. Perform monthly reconcilements of all paying agent and dividend accounts. Reconcile and post entries to Trust account system. Ensure accuracy of daily Trust account processing and balance reports on a daily basis. Perform a variety of financial and administrative tasks in relation to timely processes corporate and personal Trust and IRA accounts. Timely handling of dividends and disbursements, including balancing trust reports and maintaining confidential documentation records of clients. Assist Branch Managers and staff with IRA and Trust related client inquires issues or concerns. Maintain technical and professional knowledge by attending educational workshops and training to enhance overall knowledge of Trust Administration. Stay informed of all legal, policy, and procedural changes relating to Trust Operations Job Requirements

  • Ability to plan and implement indicators to manage performance of client IRA account investment strategies.
  • As needed recommend changes or additional objectives to meet plan goals for IRA and other client trust accounts.
  • Recommend new ideas and strategies to acquire additional assets from new clients.
  • Dedication to meeting the needs of clients.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Using time effectively and efficiently and concentrating efforts on important priorities and activities.
  • Strict attention to details and thoroughness in the completion of job duties.

  • Using computers for various in house applications. Qualifications Education and Experience
  • Associate’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field.
  • Three years of experience in financial institution or trust department operations. Licenses and Certifications N/A Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience with trust accounting systems and Microsoft Office required.
  • Knowledge of trust, retirement, and investment systems, operations, processes, laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of trust administrative procedures and systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and relate well with internal and external business partners, build appropriate rapport and constructive, effective relationships, and use tact and diplomacy to handle situations comfortably.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, analyze, and interpret legal documents, governmental regulations, and professional publications.
  • Ability to speak and write clearly in order to effectively convey information so that others understand and as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision. Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time up to 90% of work hours.

  • Ability to use computer keyboard and system to enter data and process information.
  • Ability to read a computer screen at a close distance.

  • Ability to use office equipment such as teller scanner, personal computer, telephone, mobile device, copier, etc. Working Conditions
  • Moderate sound as in business office with office machines, computers, and people traffic.
