Accounts Receivable Specialist (AR Specialist) – Full-time 7:30a-4p Under the supervision of the Patient Financial Manager, this position is responsible for new staff training and development and will assist PFS Team Lead and PFS Manager in AR analysis. The incumbent must be a positive role model for staff and patients by working with them to promote teamwork and cooperation.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES
Provides new staff training and mentoring. Communicates with the PFS Manager and Team Lead on new staff training needs and ongoing education and training needs. Assist AR Representatives as needed with aging account issues. Review workflow to ensure efficiency in insurance collections. Identify and assist in implementation of process improvement projects. Review high dollar inpatient and outpatient claims for proper submission and processing. Expand their knowledge of insurance guidelines and reimbursement policies by attending workshops, seminars and meetings as required. Work directly with the RAC/Denial Coordinator and other BMC departments on claim issues to identify and prevent future denials. Provide exceptional communication between the PFS team and management to ensure teamwork and a positive work environment. Be supportive of the goals of the department and a positive mentor to the AR Representatives. Perform other duties as assigned. Schedule This position is generally scheduled Monday-Friday, 7:30a4p (40 hours/week). Qualifications High school diploma or GED Two years of experience in medical field with an understanding of hospital collections or three years relevant business experience and an understanding of insurance contractual agreements, Medicare and Medicaid regulations and appeals process.
