Overview •This position offers flexibility in location and may be based at our Corporate Headquarters in Ithaca, NY, or at our offices in Pittsford, Batavia, or Syracuse, NY. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at least three (3) days per week .•As a member of the Tompkins Financial Advisor’s Fiduciary Team, the individual in this role will prepare detailed fiduciary accountings and draft estate and fiduciary tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws. This role gathers and monitors necessary information, coordinates transaction and asset reporting, and serves as a point of contact for tax-related matters. Additionally, this individual will manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, and demonstrate flexibility in taking on new challenges. Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in financial analysis and industry software are essential for this role. Responsibilities

Independent Preparation of Fiduciary Accountings Accuracy and Compliance:

Ensure accountings are prepared accurately and comply with relevant fiduciary principles and legal requirements.

Validation and Verification:

Conduct regular reviews and verification of financial records to identify and resolve discrepancies.

Drafting Estate and Fiduciary Tax Returns Collaboration:

Work closely with internal teams, such as tax, legal and operations departments, to gather necessary information for tax returns.

Accuracy and Compliance:

Ensure tax returns are prepared accurately and in compliance with federal, state, and tax laws.

Documentation:

Maintain comprehensive documentation of tax-related activities and communications.

Accounting and Tax Matters Contact Support and Expertise:

Provide advice and support on various accounting and tax matters to internal and external professionals.

Timely Responses:

Ensure inquiries are addressed promptly and accurately.

Workflow Management Task Prioritization:

Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.

Organization:

Maintain an organized workflow to manage various responsibilities efficiently.

Progress Tracking:

Track the progress of ongoing projects and adjust plans as necessary to ensure timely completion.

Proactively maintain open lines of communication with internal and external professionals to facilitate timely information gathering.

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or Paralegal Certificate preferred. A minimum of three (3) years’ trust and estate-related experience is preferred.
