One year of recent experience as a Pre/Post-Op RNValid RN license in compliance with state regulations Current BLS(AHA/ARC)

Summary:

The Post/Pre-OpRegistered Nurse provides specialized care to patients recoveringfrom anesthesia and surgery. This role involves assessing patienthealth before and after surgery, implementing care plans,administering treatments, and collaborating with healthcare teamsto ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. The Post/Pre-Op RNensures patient safety and comfort prior to and during the surgicalrecovery period, using advanced clinical skills, effectivecommunication, and adherence to professional and regulatorystandards.

Essential Work Functions:

Assesses patientspre-operatively, including reviewing medical history, performingphysical examinations, and identifying potential risks Preparepatients for surgery, including educating them about procedures andpost-operative care Receive and conduct comprehensive assessmentsof patients transferring from the operating room and assess theirpost-anesthesia condition Monitors patients post-operatively forcomplications and manages pain and recovery Administers prescribedmedications and treatments in accordance with approved nursingtechniques Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs ofpatients in the perioperative setting Observes and document patientconditions treatments, and significant incidents. and responses toanesthesia and treatments, notifying the care team of significantchanges or adverse reactions Takes temperature, pulse, bloodpressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal,assesses patient condition and responds appropriately Respondpromptly to emergency situations utilizing Pre/post op nursingstandards, policies, procedures, and protocols Accurately documentpatient assessments, interventions, and recovery progress inmedical records Develop and deliver individualized patient andfamily education plans, including detailed discharge instructionsand recovery guidelines Collaborate with the surgical team andother healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive pre andpost-operative care Participate in patient handoff communicationsto ensure continuity of care between units and departments Operateand monitor pre and post op-specific equipment, such asventilators, monitors, and infusion pumps Perform other duties asassigned within the scope of practice Adhere to hospital safetyprotocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards

Required Essential Skills:

Critical thinking, service excellenceand good interpersonal communication skills The ability to read,write, & communicate in the English language is required Ability toread/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions,and proficiency in PC skills Physical Abilities
