Job Description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Columbia, South Carolina. This Contract-to-permanent position offers the opportunity to handle critical financial processes within a university setting. The ideal candidate will ensure accuracy in financial transactions and contribute to maintaining budget compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Process accounts payable transactions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to organizational policies.
- Reconcile payroll-related accounts to confirm alignment with the established budget.
- Verify and process deductions to ensure compliance with financial regulations.
- Utilize Excel for calculations, including creating and managing formulas and pivot tables.
- Review and code invoices accurately for proper account allocation.
- Monitor and ensure timely payments through ACH and other automated systems.
- Assist in auditing accounts to identify discrepancies and implement corrective measures.
- Collaborate with the finance team to support accrual accounting processes.
- Work with ERP and accounting software systems to maintain updated financial records.
- Provide support for financial reporting and analysis as needed. Requirements
- Proven experience in accounts payable, including invoice processing and reconciliation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as formulas and pivot tables.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and other accounting software.
- Knowledge of accrual accounting principles and practices.
- Strong understanding of account coding and financial documentation.
- Experience with automated clearing house (ACH) payment processes.
- Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies through auditing and analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
