Maryville, TN Job Details Part-time From $15.78 an hour 11 hours ago Benefits Employee assistance program Employee discount Qualifications Customer service Driver’s License Organizational skills Associate’s degree Entry level Under 1 year Full Job Description Under the supervision of the Patron Services Manager, the part-time Patron Account Associate provides face-to-face customer services fulfilling the following duties: checking materials out and in, sorting and shelving; facilitating new patron registration and patron account maintenance; recording/collecting fines and fees; assisting with reserves, ILLs and lost/damaged items; resolving patron account issues; and liaising with library users to ensure equitable access to library materials. Additionally, Patron Account Associates are trained to work in the Bookmark Cafe and are scheduled to provide Cafe support as needed. This a part time position scheduled for 29-hours per week. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assists with materials circulation, materials shelving, and patron referral to other Library departments; Collects and records daily library statistics as directed by Patron Services Manager; Contributes to the planning and/or implementation of library initiatives in a manner which is supportive and encourages teamwork and collaboration; Attends and actively participates in staff meetings and other required activities such as performance management; Identifies issues with current processes and procedures and make recommendations to the Patron Services Manager; Actively supporting the implementation of changes which improve the efficiency and effectiveness of library service provision; Accepts, receives, and/or collects payments; Answers questions, assist patrons looking for library materials, and resolves library patron account issues; Sends items for repair; Performs inventory of physical collections; Troubleshoots meeting room presentation equipment for public meetings; and Performs other assigned duties. It is mandatory for Patron Account Associate to: Possess knowledge of library organization, resources, and systems; Quickly develop a working knowledge of departmental practices and systems; Provide skills in the use of small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems; Skillfully operator computers for data entry, word processing, records, and accounting practices; Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and an orientation towards customer service; Ability to work in a dynamic environment that requires adaptation to changing goals, priorities, and needs; Possess the desire and ability to organize and compute mathematical skills while communicating effectively and kindly with patrons and associates; Ability to maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with others; and Ability to cooperate with fellow employees as a team member.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK

Associate’s Degree; Six (6) months of experience; Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and Valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, reach and manipulate objects, tools and/or controls. The position requires mobility. Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment, such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines. The position requires hearing, mental acuity, speaking, and visual acuity.
