Job Description:
The Insurance AR Follow-Up Specialist will be responsible for resolving outstanding insurance claims and ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement. This role is essential to the revenue cycle team’s success and plays a critical part in identifying and correcting claim issues, coordinating with insurance payors, and tracking appeals. Candidates should be detail-oriented, proactive, and experienced in working with various payors and billing systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and follow up on unpaid insurance claims to maximize reimbursement Investigate claim denials and initiate appeals or corrections when necessary Coordinate with internal departments and insurance companies to resolve billing issues Document actions taken on patient accounts clearly and accurately Maintain productivity goals by working a set number of claims daily Utilize various EHR and billing platforms for claim processing and tracking Manage both primary and secondary insurance billing workflows Support front-office teams and field inbound calls from insurers and patients
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience in insurance AR follow-up or medical billing Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payors (e.g., UHC, BCBS) Ability to analyze EOBs and understand denial reasons Comfortable working in multi-specialty or high-volume settings Experience with billing software and EMR systems (OnCo, GE Centricity, EPIC preferred) Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes Strong communication and analytical skills Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a hybrid setting
Additional Details:
Contract-to-hire (540 hours before conversion)
Schedule:
Monday to Friday; flexible start times (between 7:00-8:00 AM)
Training Hours:
7:30 AM – 4:30 PM (initial 2-week period)
First Day Start:
8:30
