Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team in Memphis, TN. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, managing accounts payable/receivable, and assisting with monthly and year-end closings. This role is essential in supporting our financial operations and ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and update financial records using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar) Process accounts payable and receivable Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports Monitor cash flow and assist in budgeting and forecasting Manage payroll entries and coordinate with HR/payroll providers Assist with audits and ensure financial compliance Track and record fixed assets and depreciation schedules Support the accountant or controller with special projects as needed Maintain organized and secure financial files
Key Skills & Qualifications:
Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks preferred) Strong understanding of basic accounting principles (GAAP knowledge a plus) Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Strong organizational and time management skills Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools Ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred but not required)
Preferred Experience:
Experience working in a small to mid-size business environment Prior experience with payroll systems and sales tax filings Familiarity with inventory management and fixed asset tracking
