Budget Analyst 4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars Orlando, FL 32819 • Hybrid work Software Resources has an immediate, contract job opportunity for a Budget Analyst with a major corporation in Orlando, FL. On-site Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursdays.

Job Summary:

The Budget Analyst performs financial analysis, budgeting, reporting, and accounting functions for a designated operational area, with a focus on capital project management, fixed asset processes, and operational performance. This role involves preparing journal entries, conducting variance analysis, developing budgets and forecasts, managing month-end close processes, and partnering with operational and IT divisions to drive efficiency and cost optimization. The position requires strong analytical skills, stakeholder communication, and collaboration to support strategic financial objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Major Responsibilities % of Time Oversee and manage capital projects and fixed asset processes, including placing project costs into service, tracking capital expenditures, assisting with physical inventory counts, and reviewing asset lists for potential disposals. 35% Lead month-end close processes, including journal entry postings, account reconciliations, project cost tracking, and financial reporting. 25% Guide the development of annual portfolio budgets and quarterly estimates (LEs), evaluating costs to identify efficiencies and reduce expenses. 15% Prepare and audit financial reports summarizing divisional performance, including labor, non-labor, depreciation/amortization, and variance commentary, and present quarterly reports to Operators and Finance Leadership. 10% Maintain active partnerships with IT and operational divisions to analyze performance metrics (e.g., trend analysis, cost drivers), recommend budget management solutions, and drive process improvements. 10% Process invoices and purchase orders, code and submit requests, and complete necessary journal entries. 5% Actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by adhering to established policies, procedures, and training. Ongoing Perform other duties as assigned, including ad-hoc financial analyses and project support. As needed

Individual Contributor with occasional oversight of project teams or junior staff, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.

Required Skills and Abilities:
Technical Skills :

Advanced Excel (formulas, charts, pivot tables), proficient in math and statistics, forecasting, budgeting, cost accounting, accounting research, and knowledge of accounting principles.

Analytical Skills:

Financial/business analysis, analytical thinking, solution development, and decision-making skills.

Communication and Leadership:

Ability to communicate clearly, present and speak at an executive level, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Organizational Skills :

Strong organization, planning, scheduling, and project management abilities, with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Industry Awareness:

Knowledge of current industry trends and best practices in financial planning and operational efficiency.

Supervisory Skills :

Staff supervision and team leadership experience preferred.

Education :

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Master’s degree in a related field is preferred. High school degree or GED is required as a baseline.

Experience :

2+ years of relevant experience in financial analysis, budgeting, accounting, or capital project management required. 1+ year of supervisory or team leadership experience preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Additional Information:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required. Infrequent local travel may be required; long-distance travel is not required. The role requires consistent attendance and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities. The individual will actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives and adhere to organizational policies.
