Job Description

My client is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented financial leader to join their executive team as CFO / Director of Accounting. This role will lead all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance for a rapidly growing real estate investment platform. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in real estate finance and taxation, a strong understanding of capital structures, and a passion for building scalable systems to support continued growth.

Responsibilities:
Investor Distributions:

Oversee the calculation, approval, and timely execution of monthly and quarterly distributions to retail investors. Ensure accuracy and transparency in all distribution reporting and investor communications. Partner with investor relations to support investor inquiries and performance updates.

Property Financial Oversight:

Lead financial review and oversight of all property-level operations across the portfolio. Monitor cash flow, performance metrics, and variance analysis in coordination with the asset management team. Maintain strong internal controls and compliance with financial policies.

Corporate Budgeting & Planning:

Own company-wide budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling. Work closely with executive leadership to inform strategy through financial insight. Guide capital allocation and long-term planning aligned with business objectives.

Tax Strategy & Compliance:

Ensure timely and accurate tax reporting across all entities, including fund-level and investor-level tax documents. Collaborate with tax advisors to develop and implement real estate-specific tax strategies. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and regulatory changes impacting real estate investments.

Team Leadership & Systems:

Build and lead a high-performing accounting team to support scale and efficiency. Implement financial systems, tools, and processes that promote real-time insights and reporting accuracy. Coordinate annual audits, compliance reporting, and third-party oversight.

Qualifications:

10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, ideally within real estate or private equity. CPA required; strong knowledge of real estate tax structures and fund accounting. Proven ability to manage complex capital structures and investor distributions. Hands-on experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Experience with accounting platforms and financial reporting systems. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
