Summary As the Chief Financial Officer at Indian River Transport, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our financial strategy and ensuring the fiscal health of our organization. Based in Winter Haven, Florida, the ideal candidate will have extensive experience in transportation, logistics, or asset-heavy industries, and a proven ability to partner with executive leadership to drive sustainable growth and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a strategic financial advisor to the President and executive team. Lead all financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, risk management, and financial reporting. Oversee internal and external financial reporting to ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. Direct the company’s self-insured reserve accounting and support high-level insurance and risk finance strategies. Manage relationships with banks, auditors, insurance carriers, and other financial partners. Implement and enhance financial controls, reporting systems, and analytical tools. Provide data-driven insight to support capital investment decisions, fleet optimization, and cost reduction initiatives. Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Safety teams to align financial strategy with operational goals. Oversee the preparation and analysis of key performance indicators (KPIs) and executive dashboards. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and industry regulations impacting financial operations.
Qualifications:
10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, with at least 5 in a CFO or VP of Finance role in transportation , logistics , asset-based carriers , or similar industries required. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA or CPA highly desirable). Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial modeling, internal controls, and capital structure management. Proven experience with self-insurance programs , subrogation , and financial risk strategies. Strong leadership, communication, and executive presence with the ability to influence at all levels. High integrity and sound judgment, with a commitment to transparency and performance.
