Controller (Leading to CFO) 4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars Covington, LA 70433 • Hybrid work Controller (leading to CFO) Salary $110-160k Overview The Controller (leading to CFO) will oversee all accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, and internal controls across multiple business entities. This individual will play a key role in providing financial insight to company leadership and will manage a small accounting team. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator and problem-solver, with deep accounting expertise and a collaborative leadership style. Can work in Covington office 2-3 days/week. Will have to travel to other LA offices (within 1 hour) 2-3 days per week. Flexibility in scheduling travel. Travel costs reimbursed. Key Responsibilities  Lead and support a seasoned accounting team, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and trust.  Prepare and analyze monthly and annual financial statements for all business entities as well as the family office.  Develop, monitor, and manage annual budgets and financial forecasts.  Evaluate and report on financial trends, risks, and opportunities.  Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing and accounts payable functions.  Assist with the administration of payroll-related and employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and related reporting requirements.  Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures in compliance with applicable standards and regulations.  Oversee cash flow management and forecasting.  Serve as the primary liaison with the company’s external CPA firm and provide required documentation for tax filings and annual reviews.  Perform and/or review monthly bank and account reconciliations.  Stay up to date on changes in accounting regulations and relevant tax legislation.  Be willing to contribute to special projects and perform other finance-related duties as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required). Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Senior Accounting, Controller or CFO level role. Strong understanding of financial reporting, cash flow management, and payroll. Familiarity with real estate and/or lending industry accounting is a strong plus. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Ability to communicate clearly with executive leadership and collaborate cross-functionally. Hands-on, adaptable, and comfortable working in a lean, relationship-driven organization.
