Job Description
Summary/Objective The Chief Financial Officer – Real Estate (CFO-RE) isa dynamic, growth-minded executive who drives financial strategy,revenue development, & real estate performance for the organization. Asa key member of the senior leadership team, this role is responsible foraligning financial operations with mission-driven growth opportunities -particularly through affordable housing development, propertymanagement, & capital investment. The ideal candidate combines sharpfinancial & analytical skills with a business development mindset & deepreal estate knowledge. They will lead efforts to diversify funding,increase earned revenue, & scale impact through sustainable &data-informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Revenue & BusinessDevelopment Identify & pursue opportunities to grow earned revenue,including leveraging real estate assets & development projects. Partnerwith the CEO & Development teams to align financial strategy withorganizational growth goals & funding opportunities. Lead financialmodeling & scenario planning for new ventures, partnerships, or propertyacquisitions. Real Estate Finance & Asset Strategy Oversee the financialstructure of real estate development projects, including capital stackplanning, investor relations, & securing public/private funding (e.g.,LIHTC, NMTC, municipal bonds). Provide strategic oversight of assetmanagement, including property performance, reserves, refinancing, &repositioning strategies. Collaborate with Development, PropertyManagement, & Maintenance teams to ensure long-term sustainability &return on mission. Financial Strategy & Analytics Lead enterprise-widefinancial planning, budgeting, forecasting, & reporting functions.
Deliver insightful, data-driven analysis to inform executivedecision-making & program design. Maintain strong financial controls &ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, & funderexpectations. Leadership & Operations Build & lead a high-performingfinance team with a culture of accountability, mission alignment, ∈novation. Foster strong internal partnerships, especially with RealEstate Development, Property Management, Advancement, & Program teams.
Serve as a key liaison to the Board?s Finance & Audit Committees.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance,Business, or related field or experience. Minimum 10 years ofprogressive leadership experience, with demonstrated success infinancial strategy, real estate finance, & business/revenue development.
Proven track record in affordable housing finance or mixed-use realestate development. Strong analytical skills, financial modelingexpertise, & strategic planning capabilities.
Preferred:
CPA, MBA, oradvanced finance/real estate credentials. Experience in nonprofit,mission-driven, or community development settings. Familiarity withcomplex capital stacks, public-private financing, & complianceframeworks.
