Chief Financial Officer – Real Estate (CFO-RE) 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars 460 W Main St Ste 1, Hyannis, MA 02601 Summary/Objective The Chief Financial Officer – Real Estate (CFO-RE) is a dynamic, growth-minded executive who drives financial strategy, revenue development, and real estate performance for the organization. As a key member of the senior leadership team, this role is responsible for aligning financial operations with mission-driven growth opportunities—particularly through affordable housing development, property management, and capital investment. The ideal candidate combines sharp financial and analytical skills with a business development mindset and deep real estate knowledge. They will lead efforts to diversify funding, increase earned revenue, and scale impact through sustainable and data-informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Revenue & Business Development Identify and pursue opportunities to grow earned revenue, including leveraging real estate assets and development projects. Partner with the CEO and Development teams to align financial strategy with organizational growth goals and funding opportunities. Lead financial modeling and scenario planning for new ventures, partnerships, or property acquisitions. Real Estate Finance & Asset Strategy Oversee the financial structure of real estate development projects, including capital stack planning, investor relations, and securing public/private funding (e.g., LIHTC, NMTC, municipal bonds). Provide strategic oversight of asset management, including property performance, reserves, refinancing, and repositioning strategies. Collaborate with Development, Property Management, and Maintenance teams to ensure long-term sustainability and return on mission. Financial Strategy & Analytics Lead enterprise-wide financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting functions. Deliver insightful, data-driven analysis to inform executive decision-making and program design. Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and funder expectations. Leadership & Operations Build and lead a high-performing finance team with a culture of accountability, mission alignment, and innovation. Foster strong internal partnerships, especially with Real Estate Development, Property Management, Advancement, and Program teams. Serve as a key liaison to the Board’s Finance and Audit Committees.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field or experience. Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience, with demonstrated success in financial strategy, real estate finance, and business/revenue development. Proven track record in affordable housing finance or mixed-use real estate development. Strong analytical skills, financial modeling expertise, and strategic planning capabilities.
Preferred:
CPA, MBA, or advanced finance/real estate credentials. Experience in nonprofit, mission-driven, or community development settings. Familiarity with complex capital stacks, public-private financing, and compliance frameworks.
