We currently holdtwo charters, operating two “districts.” Our first district, KIPPAcademy Lynn Charter School, is based in Lynn, MA. Our seconddistrict, KIPP Academy Boston Charter School, is based in Mattapan,MA. Each district is housed on one or more “campuses,” which we useto refer to different grade spans, for example, elementary grades,middle school grades, or high school grades. In Lynn, KIPP AcademyLynn Elementary (serving grades K-4), KIPP Academy Lynn Middle(serving grades 5-8), and KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate (servinggrades 9-12), are all under our Lynn charter. Admission to anygrade in the Lynn district is admission to all remaining grades inthe Lynn district

Across both districts, we serve over 2,200 students. KIPPMA has a Regional Office, with teams such as Teaching and Learning,Talent and Operations, which supports both districts. KIPPFoundation KIPP Massachusetts partners with the KIPP Foundation,which is a non-profit national network of college-preparatorypublic charter schools serving elementary, middle and high schoolstudents. The KIPP Network has a 30 year track record of preparingour students in educationally underserved communities for successin college and life. The KIPP Public Schools Network is made up of278 K-12 schools, 28 regional support organizations, and thenonprofit KIPP Foundation. JobDescription The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) leads KIPP MA’sfinance and accounting functions, managing resources that fuel ourprogress toward impact, sustainability, and scale. An experiencedmanager aligned with KIPP MA’s values and culture, the CFO overseesa team of finance staff and outsourced partners and consultants.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the CFO is a key member ofKIPP MA’s executive leadership team, collaborating with staffacross our region and schools in Lynn and Boston. Bringingsophisticated finance expertise, the CFO manages: FinancialOperations, Controls & Compliance? Financial Reporting? Budgeting?
Real Estate Financing? and Sustainability Planning. With increasingorganizational and financial complexities, the CFO providesstrategic leadership and seasoned management to the KIPP MAnetwork. This role requires consistent and reliable demonstrationof the following essential job functions and key responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Finance Budgeting & Planning:
Oversee KIPP MA’s long-term financial strategy and ensure financialhealth while maximizing resources available to students Overseeefficient and effective budget, forecast, and monthly varianceanalysis processes; ensure maintenance with all financial covenantsDeliver concise and clear analyses and takeaways to stakeholders,including boards, finance committees, and internal teams; identifyrecommendations and action steps based on financial analysesProduce accurate and timely monthly financial statements for schoolleadership and executive team to review, includingbudget-to-actuals-to-forecast for income statement, cash flow, andbalance sheet Produce accurate, timely financial reports forspecial analyses, projects, grants/contracts, and planning withboard, leadership team, school leaders, department managers Define,track, and report progress on financial health and sustainabilitymetrics Oversee finance portions of public grants managementincluding budgeting and reporting Coordinate with Development teamon revenue projections, recognition, reporting and budgets Designand lead annual budgeting process, collaborating with leadershipteam, regional office staff, school leadership and operationsstaff, and board Develop business plans and multi-year financialand sustainability strategy and modeling Staff Management FinancialOperations, Controls & Compliance Directly hire, manage and developregional office finance staff (3-4 FTE) to conduct tasks such asaccounts payable, accounts receivable, and other daily accountingand financial functions and general ledger transactions Document,communicate, and manage staff on fiscal policies and proceduresLead financial components of cross-functional projects withExecutive Team Leaders (ELT) as needed and directed Provide strongleadership and supportive culture to finance staff in order toattract, develop, and retain high quality team members Activelyengage all stakeholders by sharing information in a timely manner,seeking to understand multiple perspectives, and authenticallypartnering across teams Build trusting relationships across theorganization in order to foster meaningful collaboration betweenfinance and all other functional areas Model and develops in othersa spirit of continuous learning Financial Controls and ComplianceProject manage preparation for and participation in financial andcompliance audit Manage all reporting and audits for KIPPMA FundsBoard and KIPPMA Management, LLC Oversee tax reporting Real EstateFinance Work closely with Executive Director, Board facilitiescommittee and external consultants to align operating financialswith real estate project financials, financing requirements andreporting Monitor closely and ensure adherence to all financialcovenants and agreements related to bank loans and financings.
Periodically lead market evaluations to ensure KIPP’s bankingrelationships are consistent with market rates. Lead effort torefinance real estate loans if appropriate.
