We are currently seeking an experienced and knowledgeable full time Nonprofit Accounting Sr Director. The ideal candidate is a dedicated and personable leader, excited to guide our nonprofit clients with expert accounting services. This dynamic role involves managing a team leading a portfolio of clients, both virtually and occasionally on-site. You will lead internal team members, and work closely with client staff, Finance Committees, and Boards of Directors, building strong relationships and providing valuable insights. Key ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Accounting Director plays a dual leadership role: overseeing the delivery of expert financial services to nonprofit clients while contributing to the growth and strength of Panoramic Strategys internal team and operations. This individual serves as a trusted advisor to mission-driven organizations, guiding them through financial reporting, compliance, and strategic decision-making, while also mentoring team members and shaping internal best practices.

Client Advisory & Engagement OversightLead and be the primary point of contact client engagements by delivering timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant accounting servicesincluding monthly close, audit prep, and board reportingusing systems like QuickBooks Online.

Design and implement financial processes, controls, and infrastructure (e.g., complex grant planning, technology systems assessment/implementation to support sustainable, compliant nonprofit operations.

Guide revenue recognition for a variety of income sources (grants, contributions, earned revenue, government funding) and ensure funder and donor reporting accuracy.

Present financial insights and strategic recommendations to clients boards and finance committees.

Serve as the primary liaison for external audits, Form 990 filings, and grant compliance reviews.

Leadership & Staff DevelopmentSupervise and mentor a team of directors and consultants (bookkeepers and / or accountants) supporting client accounts, fostering a high-performance and inclusive culture.

Deliver training and resources that build internal knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and sector-specific compliance standards.

Strategic Partnership & Client GrowthServe as a trusted strategic partner to client leadership, aligning financial strategies with organizational mission, sustainability, and growth.

Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication, transparency, and responsiveness.

Identify opportunities to deepen engagements or expand services based on evolving client needs.

Technical Expertise & Financial InsightApply deep expertise in nonprofit GAAP, fund accounting, grant reporting, and audit readiness.

Support clients with financial modeling, scenario planning, and cash flow forecasting.

Translate financial data into actionable insights through dashboards, KPIs, and presentations tailored for decision-makers.

Operational Stewardship & Practice ImprovementLead process improvements and system enhancements across accounting functions and platforms (e.g., QuickBooks, Bill.com, Vena, Sage Intacct).Monitor project budgets, billing, and team utilization to support firm financial health.

Contribute to internal policy development, quality assurance, and governance efforts aligned with Panoramics values and goals.

Represent Panoramic Strategy externally through professional networking and thought leadership to support business development and talent growth. QualificationsA strong passion for supporting nonprofit organizations and understanding their unique financial challenges.

Bachelors degree in accounting or finance; advanced degrees or certifications are a plus. CPA certification is required.

Previous ability to develop and lead a portfolio of clients; with an ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously.7+ years of nonprofit accounting experience with a strong grasp of financial reporting and compliance. A background in Audit and/or Consulting Preferred.

Expertise in GAAP and nonprofit revenue recognition principles.

Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks.

A desire and passion for leveraging new systems and software to improve the quality of service and value we provide to our clients. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to convey complex accounting information clearly.

Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong leadership skills to train and inspire clients and staff.

Flexibility to adjust to changing client needs and priorities.
