Durham, NC. This is afull-time, in-person position based at Measurement Incorporated’sheadquarters in Durham, NC. Measurement Incorporated (MI) is anemployee-owned corporation and a leading provider of customizededucational assessment services. Since 1980, MI has supported stateeducation departments, school districts, universities, nonprofitorganizations, consortia, and foundations. We specialize inpsychometric and assessment services, hand- and automated scoringservices, and program evaluation and school improvement services.
MI owns and manages a real estate portfolio around its headquartersin downtown Durham. MI is committed to high-quality servicesbenefiting our clients, employees, and community. We are seeking astrategic, experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provideleadership, oversight, and management of our financial operations,ensuring MI’s ongoing financial health and growth. The CFO willcollaborate closely with executive leadership (C-Suite), and assistin the design and implementation of evolving corporate strategies.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in strategicplanning, risk management, and business development, with a strongcommitment to ethical financial stewardship. ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management § Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financialanalysis, and auditing processes. § Ensure compliance withGenerally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), IRS, ERISA, DOL,and applicable federal and state financial regulations. § Managecash flow, liquidity, capital resources, and investment strategies.§ Monitor financial performance by measuring and analyzing results,initiating corrective actions, and minimizing the impact ofvariances. § Design and maintain robust internal controls tosafeguard assets and ensure integrity of financial reporting;coordinate with external and internal auditors. Strategic FinancialPlanning § Develop and execute financial strategies supporting MI’sbusiness objectives. § Evaluate and implement technology solutionsto streamline financial operations and improve data visibility,accuracy, and decision-making capabilities. § Lead financialforecasting, risk assessment, and strategic planning activities. §Provide financial expertise in evaluating capital investmentopportunities, including real estate and construction projects. §Develop organization prospects by studying economic trends andrevenue opportunities; projecting acquisition and expansionprospects; analyzing operations; identifying opportunities forimprovement, cost reduction, and systems enhancement. § Overseeenterprise risk management frameworks and internal controls toidentify, mitigate, and monitor financial and operational risksacross the organization. Financial Reporting & Compliance § Directthe preparation and timely distribution of monthly, quarterly, andannual financial statements and management reports. § Ensureaccurate financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders,including the Board of Directors, executive leadership, andregulatory agencies. § Partner with the Board of Directors toprovide insight into the company’s financial strategy, risks, andperformance. § Prepare board presentations and actively participatein governance discussions. Leadership & Team Development § Lead andsupport the finance, accounting, benefits, and payroll teams. §Mentor staff to promote accountability, professional growth, andadherence to ethical standards. § Foster a high-performing teamculture through regular feedback and development opportunities. §Maintain professional expertise by staying current with regulatorychanges and engaging in ongoing learning and industry networking.
Communication & Relationship Management § Serve as MI’s financialrepresentative, building strong relationships with externalpartners, investors, auditors, and banks. § Clearly communicatecomplex financial information to diverse internal and externalstakeholders. § Maximize return on invested funds by identifyinginvestment opportunities and maintaining relationships with theinvestment community.
