This position will be primarily remote with occasional travel and in-person meetings.

CSH is seeking a results-oriented individual committed to sharing their talent to support a mission-driven organization that leads efforts to expand housing and service solutions for highly impacted populations. The role involves leadership in all financial planning activities, including managing the annual budget process and coordinating with national and local staff. The candidate will be responsible for developing, analyzing, and interpreting statistical and accounting information to appraise operating results against the budget and other fiscal matters.

What you will do:

Direct the preparation of all financial reports, including budgets, income statements, balance sheets, and tax returns, ensuring compliance with government regulatory requirements.
Establish and maintain internal fiscal control procedures, including preparation for annual audits and adherence to GAAP principles for nonprofit organizations.
Provide strategic financial and accounting support to facilitate organizational goals and programs.
Design and enhance financial management systems and reporting capabilities for optimized fiscal oversight.
Collaborate across departments and with external funders to meet reporting, auditing, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Oversee accounting activities, including system maintenance, financial statement preparation, and compliance with standards and laws.
Manage New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) financial accounting, compliance, fund accounting, audit preparation, and reporting, ensuring adherence to

GAAP, IRS

regulations, and investor requirements, while coordinating audits and overseeing related entities such as leverage lenders and investment funds.
Develop financial strategies and investment approaches in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
Monitor lending activities and create risk management strategies to optimize resources.
Drive continuous improvement in financial functions and implement advanced fiscal systems to enhance financial information and reporting.

Specifically, we are seeking: Master’s degree in business administration, accounting, or finance.
C.P.A. designation preferred.
Familiarity with non-profit GAAP accounting preferred but not required.
Eight to ten years of experience in financial management and accounting with increasing responsibilities for multi-faceted direction and planning.
Strong understanding of Community Development Financial Institutions preferred.
Comprehensive experience with loan administration/management, grants administration and government contracts required.
Candidate should possess a broad business acumen and sound/logical thought process beyond purely finance and accounting.
Must have a high-level of interpersonal skills to clearly communicate and present policies, procedures, and objectives effectively to the Board of Directors, internally throughout the agency, and to agency funders.
CSH uses a Microsoft Office environment. Proficiency is required or a commitment to self-learn and achieve proficiency upon hire.
Candidates seeking to work remotely, or hybrid must provide their own access to a secure high-speed internet signal (preferably hard wired) at a capacity sufficient to support video, web, and email processing simultaneously based on their personal work environment. This is typically 100Mb and above.
This position requires occasional national travel.

Compensation:

CSH offers generous benefits, opportunities for professional growth, and competitive salaries based on geographic location. Our range in the New York City Tri-State Area region for Chief Financial Officer is: CFO in highest geography (E.G. New York City, Stamford, CT) $265,000 – $332,000
CFO in mid-range geography (E.G. New Brunswick, Delanco and Cherry Hill, NJ) $243,000 – $303,000 Our ranges are broad, and it is customary for candidates to join CSH at the lower half of the range to leave room for growth, learning, and development in the role and range. It is uncommon for starting salaries to fall above the mid-point. We negotiate actual salaries with final candidates based on their exact location, experience in similar roles, and expertise related to the qualifications.
