Chief Financial Officer(CFO) – ECU Health Behavioral Health HospitalAcadia Healthcare andECU Health have partnered to establish a state-of-the-art,two-story, 144-bed behavioral health hospital in Greenville, NC.This new facility will help meet the urgent need for accessible,high-quality psychiatric care in the region, expanding capacity tosupport patients with diverse mental health needs. Set to open inSummer 2025, the hospital-located just under a mile from ECU HealthMedical Center-will offer a full range of inpatient and intensiveoutpatient services. Additionally, it will host GME and residencyprograms in psychiatry and internal medicine for ECU Health’s BrodySchool of Medicine, advancing medical education and training inbehavioral health. Adults, seniors, children, and adolescentsfacing acute mental health challenges, including anxiety,depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and co-occurring disorders,will have access to specialized treatment and support at thiscenter of excellence.
This is a unique opportunity for anexperienced behavioral health CFO to build and lead a cutting-edgehospital with Acadia, the nation’s premier behavioral healthcareprovider, in partnership with ECU Health, one of the leadinghealthcare systems in NC.ResponsibilitiesYour responsibilities as
CFO:
Ensures that monthly financial statements are completed timelyand accurately. Ensures that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled on amonthly basis and in compliance with company policies and standardsand that any outstanding variances are identified and correctedtimely. Prepares corporate required reports (including the MonthlyOperating Report, Monthly Certifications, Corporate Disclosures,Forecasts) timely and accurately. Ensures all accounting and business office policies andrequired internal controls are in place to facilitate a clean auditwith no material audit adjustments or deficiencies found. Ensuresthat all approval processes are in place. Directs the operations of the Revenue Cycle to ensure thataccounts receivable is collected timely and uncompensated care iskept to a minimum. Strives to achieve goals for cash collectionsand AR days and to reduce bad debt and denials. Routinely reviewsrevenue cycle metrics to proactively identify and address issuesaffecting overall performance. Is actively involved in ensuring Front End Revenue Cycleprocesses are in place including ensuring the insuranceverification is completed on 100% of patients, working with theFinancial Counselor to ensure proper determination of patientportions and approval of any discounts or charity and properlogging of upfront collections. Maintains a thorough working knowledge of federal, state andmanaged care reimbursement methodologies to ensure that facility ispaid accurately, and revenue deductions are recorded accurately.
Facilitates preparation of any required cost reports. Supervises Accounting, Patient Accounting, Health InformationManagement, Materials Management and other departments assigned bythe CEO. These departments may include, but are not limited to,Health Information Management, Materials Management, and HumanResources. Ensures department is adequately staffed andtrained. Ensures compliance with Group Purchasing contract and monitorspurchases to ensure supply costs are kept to budgeted levels. Prepares annual operating budget and participates in the annualstrategic planning process which serves as a basis for the budget.
Provides ongoing analysis of variances from budget and assists theCEO in implementing changes needed to achieve budget goals. Prepares annual capital budgets and Capital Equipment Requests.
Ensures assets and related depreciation is recorded accurately andin compliance with company policies.
QualificationsCFO Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or business-related field withmajor in Accounting. Minimum 3 years successful CFO experience in a healthcaresetting desired. Previous Behavioral healthcare experience highlypreferred. Previous experience with a proprietary healthcare system highlypreferred. CPA or Master’s degree a plus. Proven financial analysis skills. Experience working with information technology and proficiencywith software packages including Excel and Word. Demonstrated leadership ability. Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both written andverbal. Ability to think strategically and solve problems. Ability to establish and maintain effective workingrelationships with facility staff, physicians and corporatestaff. Ability to lead with a high degree of emotional intelligenceand ethics.
