Strengthening Our Community in Southern Chester County Through Food, Housing, Crisis Services, and Education. Position Overview The Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) provides strategic, financial, and operational leadership to ensure the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of the organization. The CFO is primarily responsible for overseeing financial planning, compliance, internal controls, and overall operational efficiency. The CFO will work closely with the CEO to provide high-level oversight of KACS programs and initiatives that support food security, housing stability, crisis intervention, and community education. This role requires a dynamic and ethical leader with a strong background in financial management and operational leadership. Primary Responsibilities Financial Oversight and Strategy Lead the development and implementation of financial policies, strategies, and internal controls to maintain the organization’s financial health and integrity. Prepare and monitor the annual budget in collaboration with program and finance teams. Provide timely and accurate financial reports to the Board and Finance Committee. Supervise all accounting, reporting, and audit processes, including the annual audit and IRS Form 990. Responsible for Finance and Administrative functions, including but not limited to, Finance Management, Strategic Financial Planning, Grant Management, Operating and Capital Budgets, Accounting and Financial Reporting, Cash Management, Payroll, and Procurement. Collaborate with the CEO and program managers to develop a strategic plan and to manage those short and long term objectives. Analyze program costs and organizational expenditures to ensure efficient resource use. Ensure compliance with tax regulations, grant requirements, and nonprofit reporting standards. Monitor the financial impact of fundraising efforts and recommend improvements. Safeguard organizational assets against fraud and misuse. Lead point of contact for external auditors. Operations and Risk Management Oversee day-to-day financial operations and vendor contracts. Ensure compliance with organizational policies, employment laws, and safety protocols. Lead ongoing improvement of internal systems, policies, and workflows. Provide oversight and financial guidance for capital projects, including KACS’s new facility. Secondary Responsibilities Program and Staff Leadership Provide assistance to Chief Executive Officer in support of organizational goals and objectives. Provide direct supervision of Finance Department staff. Support program managers in evaluating budget outcomes, aligning services with community needs, and maintaining high-quality delivery. Collaborate with staff on data collection and impact reporting, including the annual report.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required. Advanced degree (MBA, MPA, etc.) or CPA preferred.
Experience:
7+ years of senior leadership in nonprofit or financial management roles. Proven ability to lead budgeting, forecasting, audits, and strategic planning. Experience supervising cross-functional teams and managing complex operations.

Physical and Work Requirements Must be able to lift objects up to 50 lbs. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Occasional evening and weekend work required as needed for events and meetings.
