This role will work with worker compensation and general liability claims. Tacala Companies is looking for a candidate to fill a new and exciting role as Risk Specialist. This role will work out of our corporate office in Vestavia Hills, AL. Tacala Companies operates over 380 locations in 7 states for two national quick-service restaurant brands. This is an additional headcount to the company due to its continued growth and plans for expansion. Core Responsibilities Handle daily risk mitigation activities to support risk management initiatives for the companies. Handle incident intake and management of on-the-job injuries and customer incidents within assigned span of locations. Maintain and update a complex system of departmental databases, records and reports. Communicate with insurance carriers, corporate partners, restaurant leadership, and customers concerning claims and incidents. Participate with onsite incident and root cause investigations, as necessary. Conduct research for statistical data collection and distribution to department leadership. Job scope Provide year-round support to Tacala Companies in the area of risk and claims management. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all departments. Meet standards set by Tacala for all areas of responsibility. Be able to work independently but also together as a team. Work approximately 50 hours a week, with travel requirements of up to 25%, but may fluctuate based on needs of the business. Job Qualifications/Requirements Minimum of 5 years in risk management with a multi-unit/multi state retail or restaurant environment preferred. Knowledge of risk management processes and procedures and the ability to communicate and teach in a fashion that makes people feel valued. Knowledge of managing injury and incident claims with insurance carriers. Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to relate and work at all levels of the organization. Must have the willingness and ability to travel across the companies’ footprint in the South/South East. Effective problem-solving skills. Competent and functional knowledge of office technology and systems, to include but not limited to a laptop and Microsoft Office 365, to produce accurate and well-presented reports, forms, tables, and graphs. Should be an effective communicator both verbally and through non-verbal channels. Should be committed to supporting a culture of diversity, inclusion and belonging in the workplace. Should have an advance understanding of Due Process of the Law. Able to deliver effective results and meet tight deadlines and targets.
