Job Description

Description We are seeking an experienced Claims Examiner – Lost Time to join our team in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. This role is ideal for individuals with at least 3 years of relevant claims experience, particularly in workers’ compensation, though related experience in fields such as disability, auto, or legal support will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Manage all phases of workers’ compensation lost time claims from intake to resolution. + Conduct thorough investigations involving insureds, claimants, and providers. + Determine claim compensability and communicate decisions to all parties involved. + Administer statutory medical and indemnity benefits in a timely and compliant manner. + Establish, monitor, and adjust reserves for medical, indemnity, and expense categories. + Collaborate with attorneys to manage litigation and hearings. + Oversee vendors including nurse case managers and rehabilitation specialists. + Ensure compliance with state regulations by filing workers’ compensation forms and data. + Refer appropriate claims to subrogation to optimize recovery efforts. + Maintain high levels of customer service and meet special handling requirements. Requirements + Minimum of 3 years of experience in lost time claim handling or commensurate fields (e.g., disability, general liability, paralegal). + Strong organizational, communication, and multi-tasking skills. + Knowledge of workers’ compensation statutes and claim handling practices is preferred. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with medical terminology and bill processing is a plus. + Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative team environment. + Must be able to obtain adjuster licenses in CT, NH, RI, and VT if not currently licensed.

Preferred Background:

+ Previous experience in insurance, legal, or healthcare industries. + Industry coursework or designations (AIC, CPCU, RMA) a plus. + Experience with data analytics in claims handling a plus.
