The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the billing process for medical services, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and the ability to handle medical records efficiently. Responsibilities Analysis of A/R and Denials Collections from insurance, patient A/R Collection and Denial Collections Accurately process and submit medical billing claims to insurance companies and government payers. Review patient records for completeness and accuracy before billing. Utilize ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to ensure proper coding of diagnoses and procedures. Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid claims and resolving discrepancies. Communicate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients regarding billing inquiries and issues. Maintain organized medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices. Assist in the collection of outstanding payments from patients as needed. Qualifications Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or related roles within a medical office environment. Familiarity with medical terminology and coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10). Strong understanding of medical records management and healthcare systems. Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders including patients, providers, and insurance representatives. Proficient in using billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems. Certification in Medical Billing or Coding is preferred but not required.
